Everneath 1 - Brodi' 'Ashton Wow I was so in love with the ending. Really felt the emotions, the love, the feeling of the sacrifices and Nikki was brilliant at taking responsibility for herself. It's shame the middle was bogged down with mundane things and the beginning was pretty strong. Such a great prologue and a way to immerse you in.

I feel there was some stuff that could have been cut out and that somewhere in the middle that there was quite a few chapters between the times she was in the soup kitchen. And these chapters sometimes represented weeks so I was wondering 'Hey what about the soup kitchen and Mary?' for a bit.

And she's supposed to be there every Saturday. I felt if that she sat down with Mary in the soup kitchen every Saturday - she was there as she seemed to do from what we know - we would have already known more about Mary before Jack started working there.

But that's me. I felt that part of the book was a bit neglected. I also felt like Nikki didn't take responsibility for her actions by letting Jack go into the tunnels at the end.

It was her fault and she established that it was, she made it clear it was her mistake and she should pay for it. It was no one's fault but her own. And so at that moment when he jumped in I felt she should have gone into the tunnels, not Jack. She shouldn't have let him take responsibility for her mistake. That was pretty selfish and weak of her.

But characters are not perfect right?

Anyway I am anticipating the sequel and giving it 4 stars. 1 star for the believability of the characters, they were raw. 2, for the plot. 3. for the killer twist 4. for the compelling story telling.

No five though. Because of what I said above and the middle bit that was quite dull for a while.
